Bringing Information to the Citizens

Right to Information Act 2005 mandates timely response to citizen requests for government information. It is an initiative taken by Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions to provide a– RTI Portal Gateway to the citizens for quick search of information on the details of first Appellate Authorities,PIOs etc. amongst others, besides access to RTI related information / disclosures published on the web by various Public Authorities under the government of India as well as the State Governments.

Who can ask for information?

Any citizen can request for information by making an application in writing or through electronic means in English/Hindi /official language of the area in which the application is being made, together with the prescribed fees.

Who will provide information?

Every public authority shall designate a Central Assistant Public Information Officer (CAPIO) at various levels, who will receive the requests for information from the public. The Central Public Information Officers (CPIO) in all administrative units/office will arrange for providing necessary information to the public. The application/request for information must be disposed off either by providing the information or rejecting the request, within a period of 30 days.

Procedure for seeking information

  1. A request for obtaining information shall be made to the Public Information Officer or through the Asst. Public Information Officer as the case may be accompanied by an application fee of Rupees Ten.
  2. The application fee shall be paid in any of the following manner namely:
    • By affixing Court Fee stamp or
    • By remitting the amount in the Government Treasury under the Head of Account “0070-60-800-36”
    • By cash remittance against proper receipt in the Office of Polytechnic College, Cherthala-688539.
    • By DD / Bankers Cheque / Pay Order / Postal Order payable to the Principal,Polytechnic College, Cherthala-688539.
  3. Fee for Providing Information
      For providing information, fee shall be charged at the following rates namely:
    • Rs. Two for each Page in A4 size paper.
    • Actual charge or cost price of the copy in larger size paper
    • Actual charge or cost price of sample or models, maps, plans, etc and
    • For inspection of records; no fee for first hour, and a fee of Rs. Ten for every subsequent 30 minutes or fraction there of.
